Another Reason To Fast On Tisha Bav

Another Reason To Fast On Tisha Bav

Contrary to what we may think, the logic used by the author of  this article is altogether sound - it is the Hashkofos he is basing it on that are absurd. And it is good for us to see what the logical results of those Hashkofos are – it helps clarify their absurdity.

For Torah Jews, such an article  - please read its title – just gives us one more reason to fast on Tisha B’Av.

Update: The Baal Tefillah who davened Minchah for the Amud this afternoon in Shul (today is Tisha B’Av 5770) showed us his Siddur, which says it was “approved” by the Chief Rabbi Emeritus of the UK, Sir Israel Brodie, that contains an “updated” version of Nachem, changed because of Israel’s conquests in the 6-day war. It removed the parts about Jerusalem being in “mourning and destruction”.

One of the guys standing there commented that it’s hard to believe there are people who still believe this kind of thing.

But it’s Ikvesa Demeshicha these days. So unfortunately, it’s not really hard.
